NOMINATION MEETING

MEMBERS – Due to the ongoing pandemic, and in order to ensure proper social distancing, the Union will be conducting our Local Nominations Meeting live and online via Zoom. (View details at www.rgv3307.org)

This announcement is to serve as official notice to all Union Members of the upcoming Union Nominations Meeting for the National Border Patrol Council, Local 3307.

The nominations are scheduled to be held online via Zoom and will start promptly at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2020.

Nominations for the offices of President, Secretary-Treasurer, 1st Vice-President, and Sergeant at Arms will be accepted from the membership via a live online meeting via the Zoom platform on Thursday, September 10, 2020, at 7:00 pm. This is not a general membership meeting; no further union business will be discussed. The meeting will solely be for officer nominations. Qualifications for office are: be a member in good standing of this local; be a member for one year of an AFGE local immediately preceding the closing of the nomination process; not be a member in any labor organization not affiliated with the AFL-CIO. The term of office is 2 years ending with the installation of officers following the regularly scheduled elections for these offices in 2022. Any member who has signed an SF-1187 accepted by a responsible officer of the local is in good standing and eligible to nominate candidates.

A second for a nomination is not required. Self-nominations are permissible. Nominations also may be made in writing, and must be received by Election Committee Chairperson Ram L. Gonzalez at the AFGE Local 3307 Election Committee’s mailing address, P. O. Box 530308, Harlingen, TX 78553, no later than 5:00 pm on September 10, 2020.  

Candidates must accept their nomination via the online Zoom meeting or, if not in attendance, submit a written acceptance to Election Committee Chairperson Ram L. Gonzalez, to be received by close of nominations. The member making the nomination has the responsibility of informing the nominee of his or her nomination. Placement on the ballot will be determined immediately following the nominations.

The manual secret ballot election will be conducted on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 from 7:00 am – 7:00 pm at the NBPC Local 3307 Union Hall located at 4179 Crosspoint Blvd., in Edinburg, Texas.  Additional information regarding the election will be provided in a separate election notice, which will be mailed to all Local 3307 members at a later date.

Each candidate may have a reasonable number of observers, who are members, present throughout the election process, including the tally of ballots.

IMPORTANT: In order to ensure that only our dues-paying members are allowed to attend our online meeting, you must do the following:

1. For membership verification – You MUST register by submitting the information requested online at: https://www.rgv3307.org/member-sign-up/

2. To join the meeting – You MUST create a Zoom Account (free) by going online to: 

https://zoom.us/signup

Once your membership is verified, you will receive information for the meeting at the email address you provide when you verify your membership. YOUR ZOOM ACCOUNT MUST MATCH THE NAME AND EMAIL YOU PROVIDE FOR THE MEETING. YOU CANNOT JOIN THE MEETING WITH A PSEUDONYM OR OTHER NICKNAME.

ONLY DUES-PAYING MEMBERS WHO HAVE VERIFIED THEIR MEMBERSHIP AND HAVE CREATED A ZOOM ACCOUNT WILL BE ALLOWED TO VIEW & PARTICIPATE IN THE MEETING. REGISTRATION MUST BE COMPLETED BY 5:00 P.M. (CST) ON SEPTEMBER 10, 2020.
