Pay Reform Muster Presentations by NBPC President Judd in RGV Sector

During the week of July 28 – August 1, 2014, NBPC President Brandon Judd conducted muster presentations at each of the 9 Border Patrol Stations within the Rio Grande Valley Border Patrol Sector regarding the Border Patrol Agent Pay Reform Act (BPAPRA). This was one of many trips that NP Judd has taken to the RGV Sector to discuss the BPAPRA. On this occasion, NP Judd spoke to 602 agents, of which less than 1% (5 agents total), opposed the BPAPRA. Combined with the previous muster presentations, union meetings and the BPAPRA special meeting held on November 14, 2013, in McAllen, Texas, NP Judd has spoken to well over half of the RGV Sector and has gained overwhelming support of the NBPC’s efforts at pursuing and securing the BPAPRA for our members.

While there will always be those naysayers, keyboard and coffee shop commandos, it is clear that combined with the overwhelming support NP Judd has received at every other BP Sector that he has visited, a great majority of BPA’s are in support of the NBPC’s efforts with the BPAPRA. As explained in the face to face meetings, there is a lot of misinformation being circulated and spewed by those who refuse to understand and acknowledge the severity and very real possibility of the consequences of doing nothing. Contrary to e-mail, Facebook and chat room messages being circulated that condemn the BPAPRA, the NBPC’s message and presentation is based on facts, rather than demagoguery and asinine comments written and spoken by people with a complete lack of knowledge regarding labor laws and how legislation works, and who are supported by a desire to create and spread animosity towards the Union. The NBPC retains some of the top lobbying and Title 5 law firms in the country, and we have relied on their guidance and expertise to deliver the best possible package for our members.

The NBPC appreciates the support of its members, and we will continue to advocate for them.
